Airstream

Very much a warm one at present, palpably summer. I spent the afternoon on Bray prom, among the Amusements' diesel fumes, under fluffy, Persil-white clouds, with a warming boy and dog, looking for a stall worth its salt. But once we discovered the water-balls we got into our stride. Such a simple, perfect idea. Relatively cheap too. There was a continuous clutch of kids waiting for a go. Oh, to be a self-propelled mouse locked into one's own freewheeling space, to be dry in the water, the centre of your own planetoid. But when he came out, red and sweaty and grinning, he didn't mention any of that stuff. His only remark: "You can make any sounds you want in there!"
