Catching Kippers
There were a few men angling at the aptly named Fisherrow Harbour this evening. I exchanged some small talk with George, and I think I impressed him by asking original and probing questions such as "Have you caught anything yet?"
He was fishing for mackerel, and showed me one that he'd caught earlier, but it was in a plastic Tesco bag, so I had my suspicions about its provenance.
He told me I should have turned up with my camera an hour earlier, when there had been dolphins playing in the harbour. "Leaping almost twenty foot in the air, they were." It was only when he started embellishing the tale with stories of them tossing balls to each other, that I twigged. Bloody fishermen and their tall tales.
