Lower Wairau River
Our camera club is planning a field trip to the Grovetown Lagoon (weather permitting) this coming Sunday. I decided to do a “recce” this morning in order to have some ideas of any particular features to visit on Sunday. The Grovetown Lagoon is adjacent to the Lower Wairau River. I had a good look around the area and took the dogs for a good walk along the top of the stopbanks bordering the river. Here the Wairau runs slow and deep. There are some excellent viewpoints along its banks, albeit overgrown at this time of the year. Today’s blip is looking northeast upstream towards the eastern end of the Richmond Range. A serene and peaceful place.
