Shane "Shakey" Byrne

This year, for the first time, Brands Hatch race circuit opened its gates for a free, all access Fan Day on the day before the British Superbikes gets under way.

How could we resist?

We met a few riders, most notably championship leader Shane Byrne (pictured) but also John Hopkins, Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes. Matt Roberts (previously of the BBC and now of Eurosport) was interviewing many of them on stage. We also walked freely in pit lane and were even allowed in the starter's box and on the pit wall. Later on we were able to walk round the whole of the Grand Prix circuit. What a day!

I hope they do this type of thing every year as it was brilliant!!
