Leopard-print pants

On the way down Lion's Head we encountered a little-known local custom - sprinting up in your animal print grundies. As the semi-naked chap blasted by in a flash of poly-cotton & with a gutteral greeting, he cast a disdainful eye over my thin racing t-shirt & well-stocked Camel-bak. I suddenly felt over-dressed, over-prepared & over-there, ashamed to be the product of a shandy-drinking European Nanny-State. Mustering what confidence I had left, I hitched up my Gore-tex gaiters, gripped both Leki's tightly & very carefully descended, so as not to get my boots dirty.

Incidentally, the road top left winds up to the Table Mnt cable car station & the top of Lion's Head has a great 360 deg view of Cape Town
