End of an era.

For the last eighteen years during the second weekend in July Kinross becomes the fifth largest town in Scotland as some 85,000 people attend T in the Park - the music festival which is Scotland's equivalent of Glastonbury. It brings a real festival atmosphere to the town and it certainly helps the economy of this area. Businesses such as local taxi drivers, shops, B&B establishments and hotels and local campsites have all benefitted and despite some road closures and traffic restrictions the town really embraces the festival.
However, sadly this is the last year that TITP will be held here because of concerns about a North Sea gas pipe which runs under part of the site. We will all miss the fun, and the ability to sit in the garden with a G&T and listen to the music drifting across on the wind.
I decided, therefore, to hirple along to the motorway bridge, which is quite a good vantage point, to take some pics for posterity. This shot shows a substantial section of one of the camp sites and up on the left one of the big concert tents. I'm always amazed how anyone could find their own tent in the dark, especially if they've had a few drinks!
