Emerald Damselfly at Kinghorn Loch, Fife

I have sometimes seen common-blue damselflies open their wings slightly to warn off other males. At first I thought this was a blue-tailed doing the same thing. It was rather distant (so poorer quality) but I took a couple of shots anyway. When I got home, I was surprised to find that this is in fact an emerald damselfly (Lestes sponsa). Apparently, this species generally lands with its wings ajar.

This is the first time I have knowingly seen this species.

At the same site were common blues, blue-tailed and these emeralds.
