Buff-tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris)
At least I think it is! It is quite possible that it is a White- tailed bumblebee Bombus lucorum as the workers of the two species are so similar that it really needs dissection to tell them apart. At least so I am told.
A day of jobbing around home. Clickychick spent the morning in a meeting about if her Mum can stay permanently in the care home or whether she is deemed fit enough to live at home with 4 visits a day as support. Fortunately the decision was in favour of residential care as she needs 24 hour care. CC had slept at her Mum's for over 3 weeks before she went into care.
I ended up wandering round the garden looking for blips I spotted this young lady (she must be young as only Queen Bumblebees overwinter) busy on a stonecrop we have. I am not sure what the stonecrop is as we didn't buy it. Well that isn't strictly true it was in the winter window box provided by the nursery when we used to buy them for the shop.
