Kiss Me, Hardy

Today we headed to Burnham Thorpe for a walk from our new walk book. We encountered Burnham Market en route and couldn’t believe how busy it was – so many cars, not what we had expected. I spotted lots of nice looking shops around a lovely village green as we inched through. I later read that it is known as “Chelsea on Sea”!

Burnham Thorpe is the birthplace of Horatio Nelson. We visited the church where his father was the vicar before heading off on our walk, which went by the site of his birth. We headed back to the village for a lovely lunch in the garden of the Lord Nelson pub and some liquid refreshment before continuing on the second half of our walk.

We headed home, hot and weary after a lovely day out. Why can’t all Monday’s be like this.

This sign was in the pub. The pub where Nelson held a leaving party before heading off to the Navy.
