3rd Day of the Holiday - North Uist and Benbecula

Day 3 started with the ferry trip from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy on North Uist and we were greeted with heavy rain and howling wind on arrival so the planned ‘slow’ navigation of the north western coast road with stop offs at the beautiful beaches didn’t materialise; instead a quiet parking spot and an afternoon nap was in order – the beauty of a motorhome!
We spent the night at a campsite on Benbecula and a lull in the rain (but not the wind) during the evening allowed me to walk along the nearby beach. A lasting impression I have taken from the islands visited this week is the approach to ‘scrap’ with gardens and driveways often containing the rusting remains of old cars, tractors, trucks etc… The beach also seemed to be a suitable dumping ground.
