Water Fools
The 3rd Milton Keynes International Festival, held every two years, started yesterday. It's no rival to the Edinburgh Fringe, but it's growing and is proving very popular locally. Today we went to the 'Cabaret of the Mind' in the Spiegeltent, an event where you have four 20 minute conversations with random experts and get to talk about their work and expertise. I got a nano-scientist, an expert on Bletchley Park and MI6, a competitive flower arranger and an airline pilot, while W got a cider maker, an architect specialising in 'passive houses', a social historian who has written about the development of MK, and a BBC News sound engineer. Given the occupation of one of my Blip friends, I would have quite liked the last one myself!
This evening we are going to 'Ilotopie: Water Fools' which promises to be interesting; a sound and light show performed after dark entirely on the surface of a lake. I always enjoy this sort of thing which is a bit different, and these are some of the props from the show on the lake this morning.
