Sand cast by lowly lug worms : a far cry from the sand cast into castles as recently as yesterday by excited holidaying families. After six months in the desert we just love days like this. The absence of people due to the haar adds to the magic of this midsummer marinescape.

The haar is making for a challenging BBC Live from Edinburgh Castle , being broadcast as I type, three miles from this beach. The theatrical smoke effects obviated by the omnipresent haar! (Scottish sea mist)

Earlier we had a lovely lunch here with our elder son's future parents-in-laws. It was great to meet them.
