Härnösand harbour in the summer
I thought it interesting to compare this image with one I took on the 25 March (ice free but still cold) or the 17 February (ice breaking up).
There is such a huge difference between summer and the rest of the year down in the small boat harbour. In summer this is a place full of life, boats coming in and out, people sitting on boats watching the world go by, others sitting on benches watching the boats. So much relaxation and taking it easy in one place! The rest of the year it is basically a cold windy place through which people hurry to reach a more sheltered spot.
We ate an fantastic lunch sandwich from Tiger's Bakery on one of their quayside tables. If you are passing through Härnösand try this wonderful bakery (closed on Mondays). Eat a sandwich and buy one of their genuine sourdough loaves, with maybe a few home-baked biscuits too! It is on the opposite side of the harbour to where I took this picture, towards the end of the third block in the photo.
Summer is so wonderful, especially when the sun shines!
