Highs and Lows

My brother and his family arrived today from Connecticut. We haven't seen them for a couple of years so it was so great to spend time with them. My little nephew took a little time to warm up, but he was soon showing his true colours - cheeky, friendly and very funny!
Unfortunately we had to leave the gathering early as I received a call saying one of our cats was injured. We eventually tracked him down to discover that he has dislocated his hip. Hopefully they can pop it back in, but if not we are looking at fairly major surgery. It's not to be taken lightly at 18 years old. Still, at least his purr motor was still working when we went to see him.
We then heard that my mother-in-law had a fall this evening. Nothing too serious, but she has some nasty carpet burns on her face, and was obviously very shaken by it.

Fingers crossed for less drama tomorrow.
