Millennium Bridge, London
I headed into London for the day to meet my friend Alison who'd travelled down from Merseyside for the day, and I also invited the Brighton Blondes; Chrissy, Alison, Barbs and Val. Unfortunately Barbs couldn't join us this time but the others did and Alison has been nicknamed of the Liver Bird so, we're now the Brighton Blondes and the Liver Bird lol!
Anyway, we met Alison at London Bridge Station and went for drinks in the Shard, then went to Borough Market where we had some amazing Indian street food. While in the Shard, Chrissy spotted a tower on the other side of the river, with a viewing platform, so we decided to cross the river and go up the tower. It turned out to be Monument to the Great Fire of London, and we managed to climb the 311 steps to the top - it wasn't easy in the heat, and as soon as we got back down we sat and had some well deserved refreshments.
We then wandered along the South Bank stopping at the Millennium Bridge, which I've seen so many times on Blip. I think it's an amazing construction, and particularly like that you can see Saint Paul's Cathedral on the other side. I also wanted to see the upside down building by Alex Chinneck, so we walked a bit further to Blackfriars Road. It's a very clever construction and looks 'real'.
Once back near London Bridge, we had time to sit and have a drink before it was time to head home. It was very hot and sunny and we had a great day, but I think we were all tired after all the walking we did!
I'd like to say a big thank you for putting Milou & Bobbie on the spotlight yesterday!
