The 'donkeys' are back and a fine sign that wildflower season is on the way.
This is Diuris brumalis, the Winter Donkey Orchid and so called because of the lateral petals protruding like donkeys ears.
One of the fifty plus species native to Australia, with one species endemic to Timor, they flower from July to November.
Gorgeous.
