Peahen

By Peahen

For my sister, for her wedding.

This 1922 Maundy threepenny bit is one of a couple given to me by our grandfather rather a long time ago. Its mate is stitched to the label inside my wedding dress, with blue thread, by a great friend who had crossed the Atlantic to be part of my day.

I wish I'd thought of it when my first sister was married, they were just coins then, albeit coins of great sentimental value. It was only when I was engaged myself that I realised that these drilled coins would probably already have been part of a wedding or two. Perhaps they'll see a couple more yet, over the generations, perhaps they will simply be cherished. Either is fine.

First though, I wish my sister the happiest of days and a long and wonderful life with her husband.
