Peerie Museum
Spent the day walking around Flotta. The 10.30 ferry from Houton was packed with players heading out for a Cup game between the Flotta and Hoy team v Harray. The boat called at Lyness where nearly all passengers and vehicles left the vessel. Only four of us continued on to Flotta. What does this tell us ?
Once on Flotta the day was very walm, almost balmy, and raining with haar drifitng around. A few midges in the mix, for enertainment value. At lunchtime we had to shelter in the porch of the Kirk and we were invited to take part in the 2.00 service. However we had to head on to Stanger Head wartime camp and radar statation. We sat by the hidden stacks of Cletts and watched lots of puffins and guillemots birling through the air.
We then made our way to the Peerie Museum which is based at Lundy, the old Post Office. The museum, as indicated, is quite petite - it is in fact in someone's house and we were invited to have a cup of tea. What a superb museum it is.
Just in case Sky Sports doesn't report it Flotta and Hoy won 5 - 4.
