Downhill Racer
Jacqui's son Lloyd has spent a great deal of time and effort organising a longborad skating event nearby.
This involved getting the council and local Guardia to close off a little-used section of new road at the top of the hill and allowing thirty or so insane people, ranging in age from about four to forty, to hurtle at break-neck speed from the top to the bottom without crashing out on the many sharp corners along the way.
So after I had played four sets of padel and Jacqui had collected a friend from Gib airport, we moseyed up to the top of the hill to see what it was all about.
The first thing we found was my bbq being put to good use, so we availed ourselves of a burger and waited for the action to resume.
Personally, I preferred the views of Gibraltar to the sound of skateboard wheels and people's bodies scraping along tarmac at high speed, but everyone seemed to be having a great time. Participants had come from as far as Alicante and even Majorca, such is the lure of a new run.
After a couple of hours we left them to it. Walking down the hill to the car, we saw the ambulancia and crew sitting patiently by a nasty corner, but so far their services had not been required.
Haven't seen my bbq yet either.
