South Island Time
When people see Palm Trees, presumably they think about tropical places, hammocks and a relaxed pace of life, thats what imagery the mainstream media has given me anyway. The term island time means you can just relax and things will happen when they happen, time is not important.
This little sign outside the offices of a tour company suggests we have been duped by film makers and story tellers because when you see Palm Trees in Queenstown, it means you are probably in someone's way and should move along so pictures can be taken.
I pass this every day and never notice it, must be that South Island is a bit different to other islands. Today I was lucky to have those spare minutes to stop and take a look around while I was waiting for a taxi at 5.30 am... That sounds like South Island time!
