reverting to my toddler self
i am instigating routine into my life.
one of which is my hour long bedtime routine. as evidenced by this photo. i dim the lights, sit in my comfy chair, sip 'sleepytime tea,' write in my journal, read ts eliot, and listen to calming music.
i have sleeping troubles. and i have been advised to change my attitude from "i might possibly maybe fall asleep tonight" to "i am going to fall asleep tonight." it is surprisingly profound advice.
instead of dreading the prospect of going to bed i now delight in the process. the routine is comforting and calming. i am guaranteed time to myself in which i can think and rest and generally just exist.
i also have a routine in the morning. this orderly existence is doing wonders for me.
i think its also really good for me to have my day bracketed by things that are not school work. it is important for me to have times where school has no place.
two other changes i have noticed. i drink less and shower more. both probably good things.
