Another evening at the lake

It's been  another day of blazing sunshine and shade hugging outside work. Around 7:00 in the evening we called time and grabbed our swimming things, and clothes fit for the shops, and set of to the swimming lake. We swam, took photos, shared a cold beer and listened to the delightful sounds of the kids playing 50 meters away on the beach and in the shallow water.
While swimming and floating in the water we reflected that three and a half months ago the lake was frozen and four months ago we'd skied across the snow-covered ice.
Just below Janet, towards the camera, there are two "tidemarks". These are caused by the ice scraping the rock as it expands, contracts, and moves around.  A little reminder that summer is not here forever.
On the far right of the image, near the bottom, you can see a few strands of grass growing out of a very inhospitable looking crack in an otherwise bare rock.  This nearly made it to blip and can be seen in my flickr album "Nearblips".
