sunday's dance
I love going to conscious movement, 1st and 3rd Sundays in Sarasota. The people who come are awesome to be with and to move with. Everyone is warm, playful, accepting, supportive . . . I could go on & on. Kathy Oravec usually facilitates this event but she is traveling this summer and we are lucky to have Debbie Moran stepping in for her so we can continue. And it's a good thing as we had 18 of us there on Sunday. Both women and men participate.
I took a couple of quiet photos so not to disturb anyone and then I took them into Photoshop to layer together. View LARGE. I don't really know how to use PS elements except for this purpose! I just fool around till I get something I like. I had 2 photos I liked so I added the other one here, it's a bit different.
When we dance or move in conscious movement we try to be more aware of how we are feeling, what we are feeling, what the music, movement or someone else's movements bring up for us. Every gathering has a theme and intent. Most times it is very joyful and playful and so much fun. Other times there are emotions or issues that come up and there in a safe, secure place, you can address them by expressing yourself through movement. I have had a few conversations with my dad, who passed away 3 years ago. Mostly this experience brings me back to my roots of improvisation in Modern dance classes. You can see more of my photos on this movement form here on blip.
