full throttle

Farnborough air show ...a hot one....battle plans were drawn up a couple of days before , get food ,drink to last a plague of Locust on the saturday,,meet the Reeves family at 9 am and chug off to "the hill" at the end of runway... parking cars is always a problem here, there is a small car park a short walk aways , when we arrived there it was already full..damnit.. plan B swung into action, drop off the thronging hordes and then me and gray would find suitable place to dump the cars and then walk back...worked like a charm... so there was us ..prime spot..on the hill...ready for a day of being awestruck at the red arrows,, the eurofighter ,, and the F15 "top gun" super Hornet...the eurofighter and hornet didnt so much fly ,, just wound everything to the max ,, afterburners `n all and just flitted across the sky basically sitting on the thrust of its engines...the noise was incredible, it sounded like the air was being ripped apart. The star of the show were the red arrows,, naturally..their display was nothing short of unbelievable, a true crowd pleaser,, one of the arrows made a pass over the hill at no more than 150 feet at 350 MPH ???must have been ....another turned at high speed above us.pulling some G`s, and producing visible vortex off the wingtips, then 10 seconds later or so , the whipping sound of the spiraling air as it reached us..all in all an amazing day spent with great company.. firmly lodged in the memory banks as a goodun` .
