An Exceptional Day
Last night I went to sleep hearing the sound of heavy rain on our iron roof. I expected to wake to a grey, wet morning, however when I pulled the curtains, I was surprised to see a very white frost and snow on the Kaimai Ranges to the east of our property.
If we lived in the lower north island or south island, this would not be unusual, but it is very unusual for our area to have snow. I have only seen this happen three or four times in the 39 years I have lived here.
The day continued to be a cracker with bright blue skies and plenty of sunshine.
Winter is rather pleasant on exceptional days like today!
