The Public Bar

Went for a quick drink at the local with Adele and Penny, who has recently returned from a big OS trip.
Any OS trip is big if you start from Australia.

Snapped this from the lounge, sitting in front of the fire.
It wasn't until the 70s that women were allowed into public bars in hotels.
Prior to that there were 'ladies' lounges', where you could sip on a shandy while peeling the veg for the evening meal.
Often with hair in rollers.

These days nobody bats an eyelid if women go into the bar, but it's still very much the preserve of the male, especially in towns like this.
