St. Michael's Mount

We've been waking up every morning to the view of St. Michael's Mount, this morning we went for a wander around it!

The tide was too high to walk over (we'd have had to wait until 7pm this evening anyway!), so we caught the little boat. There were 7 boats ferrying people to and fro' the island all day long!

It's part of National Trust so a quick scan of our cards and we were on our way! It's a tough old climb up to the Mount itself! There is the legendary story of the giant Cormoran, who regularly helped himself to livestock and the odd child from the village of Marazion to feed his gargantuan appetite! One day Jack a local lad dug a big deep hole, and woke the giant who became very angry and tried to find who woke him up. Blinded by the early morning sun he fell down the hole to his death!

The hole where he fell is known as the Giants Well, and nearby in the cobbles is the small stone heart - that Jack removed and tossed up the path after Cormorans death. They say you can put your hand on the stone and still feel it beating!

Apparently Jack went on to climb beanstalks...
