A sense of forboding...

This is the National University of Maynooth, near Dublin, where I'm at a conference this week. Originally set up as a seminary in 1795, it's now Ireland's fastest growing university. Although the architecture is fantastic, I find that the whole place has a really overbearing feel, and even on a sunny day it seems dark and brooding. I'm sure it served as a constant reminder to the priests that they were not there to enjoy themselves! :)
