Dysart Primary: A Green Flag School
My daughters spent part of their early schooling at Dysart Primary in Fife. In those days an eco-friendly school was not on the agenda, unlike today.
Eco-Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage schools to take action on environmental education issues. The Scottish Government state that "It is an environmental management tool, a learning resource and a recognised award scheme. It empowers young people to take action towards an economically, socially and environmentally just world."
Over 98% of Scotland's local authority schools participate in the initiative, and over 46% of participants have attained the internationally-recognised symbol of excellence in sustainable development education; the Green Flag Award.
So here it is: Dysart Primary one of the 46% to achieve the award proudly flying the flag.
