Nostalgia...

...sadly not what it used to be.

On a whim this afternoon, decided to drink a Trappist ale in "Le Cirio".

Have to admit I haven't visited it since my mother came to Brussels back in 1991 - back then it was immaculate example of a Brussels 1900's Art Nouveau pub with beveled mirrors, waiters & waitresses in black uniforms & white aprons who strutted their stuff with pride & panache - bla bla.

Now all that remains is the nicotine on the walls & ceiling - the waiter was distinguished by his grubby lack of pride or panache. The place was empty apart from a few Japanese tourists who sat in the terrace outside in their obligatory sun hats being inscrutable.
