Cumulus nimbus over the high coast
Another warm day, a degree or two warmer than the previous days. Around lunchtime we began to hear distant thunder, then slightly nearer thunder.
Taking a break from sanding the door I looked round the corner of the house to see this classic thunder head. I climbed up onto the roof to get a better view and that's where this photo comes from.
Within 15 minutes clouds had boiled up all around this monster and it lost it's classic form. Fortunately it was not headed our way. However, within 30 minutes smaller dark cumulus clouds were moving over us with occasional grumbles of thunder. As I finished sanding the door a few drops fell. I quickly covered the door and we rushed in all the washing. For the next ten minutes desultory drops fell and then it ceased raining altogether. That was the rain for the day!
Later we hung the first door we'd done back on the Red House, and moved the front door into the Red House for it's first coat of paint.
We finished the day around 10 in the evening with another trip to the lake to swim and watch the sun go down, as recorded by Jan.
