Fraise des bois..

or more commonly called Alpine Strawberry or just Wild Strawberry.

These grow happily in my garden and used to keep my youngest daughter happy when she returned from school. She would skip out into the garden and pick them and eat them all!! When she didn't do it our dog would go and suck the fruit off the little plants so I never really got any!! Now that the old dog is no more and the daughter is off and away in far flung places (think they are safely down from the Annapurna Sanctuary now) I am able to take photographs of this pretty little plant before munching the subject.. such a wonderful flavour!!
