Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

What a big rock!

We spent the morning seeking out the covered bridges that are such a feature of this part of the world.

We then headed off into the Franconia Notch national forest and walked to the Flume Gorge, where there were two more picturesque covered bridges, as well as a dramatic gorge and wonderful waterfalls. However I have decided to blip one of the enormous boulders that are scattered throughout the area. They are, of course, glacial rocks dumped by the melting glaciers some 25,000 years ago. The ice here was two miles deep!

As you can see, Mrs Talpa was much impressed by the rocks. She is now making worrying comments about me building a rockery when we get home!
