Commonwealth Games

Our first and last Commonwealth Games event.. men's 56kg weightlifting final at the Clyde Auditorium.

After stressing about getting there, it was all very smooth in the end... The most stressful bit was getting out of Edinburgh! We drove through, parked in the centre near the river and walked to the SECC Precinct.

Amazing weather... Mid 20s with glorious sunshine.

Security checks were quick and painless, all the staff were lovely. Food was a rip off though... As expected.
And the only cash machines around charge you £2.50
But those were the only bad points.

The weightlifting event was awesome. The atmosphere was electric and everyone was super supportive... Super enthusiastic cheering and clapping. Loved the wonderful shouts of "Come on wee man!".

The athletes were incredible and the competition was intense. It all ended with the leader making a Games record attempt. He didn't get it but the whole auditorium gave him a huge standing ovation!

Then bumped into a uni friend I hadn't seen in 12 years!

Walk back to the car, smooth drive back through the fog and back home to catch some games highlights before bed.

A fantastic games experience. Go Glasgow!!
