Broad Haven
"Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies.
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies."
I Can See Clearly Now written by Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff
Blue skies and sunshine from early morning so a day to head for the beach. Not just any beach, but Barafundle. It would be too easy for me to just go there, park and walk across the headland. Instead I take K, K2 and R to Bosherston, to walk by the lily ponds and then over eight arch bridge and through the woodlands, approaching the beach through the dunes.
It's quite busy, for Barafundle, but not for a beach as K2 points out. Obviously we're very spoiled down here. I leave them all to soak up the sun and head back along the coast path towards Bosherston and Broad Haven beach. Cliff path is as beautiful as ever.
As I approach the lily ponds where they meet the beach, I spot this couple sitting on a bench watching the world go by. Ah, life's a beach.
Takes me an hour to walk back to the car, fortunately the walk along the ponds is shaded, the sun is baking.
We stop at the National Trust tea rooms at Stackpole for a late lunch in the shaded garden. Then back to the caravan for the evening, reading on the deck while the sun goes down. Called in to see P, didn't realise how late it was, didn't get back to the 'van until about 11pm. Starting to get a bit cooler by then.
