Less effort

Mother phoned last weekend asking if I had any black cotton because she wanted to knit a bolero for her holiday in September. I didn't but said I'd take her to Kemps wool shop when I saw her next week.

Imagine my surprise when my daughter phoned ... a little stressed on her only day off this week .... to enquire the location of Kemps because granny was driving her crazy and they'd been driving around the Team Valley for ages looking for it.

"Both branches are in Sunderland," (about ten miles away from the Team Valley) I told her, "Hobbycraft are at the Team Valley and they sell cotton but I told your granny I'd take her at the weekend."

"Did you indeed," she said through gritted teeth, "she didn't say that!"

No actually, I'm not surprised.

Anyway, 30 minutes later I spotted this and sent a picture to my daughter to show her granny (who has a mobile phone but still cannot fathom out how to use it despite numerous demonstrations and bespoke written instructions) who liked it.

I bought it.

Daughter trudged around the store and put the black cotton back on the shelf.

End of daughter's torture!

Mothers ...! Who'd have them ....!!
