Market Tower
Just a stone's throw from my flat is Lewes Market Tower, erected in 1792 to house the Old Town clock and 16th Century bell Gabriel, taken from St. Nicholas Church, which was demolished in 1761.
From 1881 until 1893 it served as the Town Hall. Later it was leased to the Lewes Operatic Society, where rehearsals were held.
