The Fire Pit

#2 Daughter (Katkatkat) is down from Edinburgh to give her Mum help and support with the breaking up of her Grannie's (FredaH) bungalow. So a busy day beginning with a visit to the home to see her Grannie, followed by along lunch with fellow blippers from the Leicestershire area. Very nice to meet you both! Then home to continue the work.

Katkatkat lives in a 4th floor flat in Edinburgh and so doesn't have a garden. When down home she takes every opportunity to be in the garden and particularly to BBQ. Her Sister (ArcaneSpark) introduced us to the idea of a fire pit when we were visiting in Sheffield one year. That was in April! Personally I find the name Fire Pit misleading as it isn't a pit. Think of a large metal bowl on legs about 2 foot 6 inches across. The beauty of it is you can have the grid on and BBQ as normal. Once the eating is over either add more charcoal or wood and you have lots of warmth and a cheery glow/fire to sit round.

We were so taken with the concept that we bought our own. One of the best additions to the garden yet, being stainless steel and aluminium it can stay out in the garden. No waiting for it to cool to put it away and it has a stainless steel lid which converts it to a very useful coffee table.
