Cadogan Gardens
After a long day at work, using my new Harrods green card, I brought a change of clothes with me in a spare bag now that I can bring in my own bag - hooray!
This change of clothes was because after work I was meeting Luke to go to the wedding celebration of Sofia from work who married Mat James from Homebase.
They had a very small ceremony in Chelsea Old Town Hall and then a lunch afterwards with just their families before moving onto the Trafalgar pub to spend the rest of the night with all their friends.
Whilst I waited for Luke I walked all around Knightsbridge in my new brogues and saw the mist glorious buildings. Red brick, sandstone, even marble all created the most wonderful rows and crescents of houses. I wondered several times how magical it would have been to see these streets once they had been built and in their hey day, alive with the bustling of Georgian ladies feet and carriages in the street
I walked past a private garden in a square that was called Cadogan Gardens and through the pretty wrought iron gate I spotted a graceful statue in the background. The statue is of a man and woman in a half dance half embrace, their limbs making beautiful lines together.
I met Luke at the tube stop after my walk and we caught a train to Sloane Square where we walked the 15 minute journey to the pub. Along the way we spotted some great looking restaurants to sample another day.
On arrival in the pub we saw Tom Smith from operations, Gina Ackroyd from supplies, Alessandro from L&D and some if the girls from the Boutique.
Luke bought us a pitcher of Pimms enticingly dressed with mint, strawberries and cucumber and which went down rather quickly in the balmy evening.
We congratulated the newly weds and gave them a card and it was nice for Luke to meet them and for them to sound genuinely happy we had come to join in and celebrate. It was nice to see some of the store team and to briefly meet Sofia's Spanish family.
We stayed and enjoyed everyone's company for a couple of hours before heading back home to order Papa John's takeaway pizza before bed.
Today I am grateful for Sofia and Mat, the gracious hosts of their wedding party who made us feel very welcome on their very special day.
