It's a blue - really
I looked it up in my butterfly book and, even though it was brown when it was flying, it turns out that it is a female Common Blue.
I'd seen three very blue blues earlier and then this one surprised me a little.
In between baking and cooking for my sister and her family and my brother who are coming tomorrow, I went out to the Farm Shop (Cherry alert - they are delicious and cheap - £1 a punnet) and called in to the Pipe Hill Heathland area to do a butterfly count.
Lots there - speckled wood, small whites, meadow browns, the blues, small skippers and a Gatekeeper !
I wonder what cherry ice cream will taste like.................
