Red Admiral

The underside of a male Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) lit by a (lucky) ray of sunlight. You don't often see the underside in this light and from a distance they look quite dull and brown.

Another hot day today, 28 degrees C, and not too windy so there were loads of butterflies about, particularly on the Buddleias.
