Tyninghame

The lovely village of Tyninghame beyond East Linton is very pretty at this time of year. We enjoyed a cup of tea in the charming tearoom. We'd enjoyed a picnic lunch watching some of the East Fortune air show - the Red Arrows doing unbelievable things at terrific speeds over the ripe corn fields. We then drove to Smeaton estate's walled garden centre, but by then more planes were up. A scruffy fellow with a beaten up pick up cheerily informed us they were a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane. They were quite something. We got chatting and it turned out he was the owner of the estate. He recommended a walk around the lake which we then did. What a beautiful place with a stunning collection of unusual mature and ancient trees. We enjoyed it so much. It was a grand day out.
