Strange plant life

Went for a wander in the Botanics - which was lovely if a little bit wet - and saw these plants. I liked them and their weirdness and spikeyness (not sure if that's a word) but when I downloaded the photo they disappeared against the colour of the rock - so they have been Tangled. They could easily belong to Spock!
