Red Arrows inbound 1315 ; right on schedule!
An awesome sight especially when seen from the top of Berwick Law.
On one of their regroup formations they screamed over the top of this old volcanic plug towards the East Fortune Museum of Flight which today was holding its annual air show. We were watching at 600 ft and it felt as if we could almost touch the planes and eyeball the pilots and navigators!
My pictures were the best I have ever taken. I was using the sports mode of my SLR and I was really impressed by the framing and the clarity of what I was taking. You may be startled by my immodesty here but you will no doubt be more amused than I was to realise at the end of this breathtaking display that I had left my camera card in my computer at home! I had a spare card in my camera case but had not reviewed any pictures until the Reds flew south to their next display and the red white and blue smoke dissolved far more slowly than my disappointment at having been so careless!!!
This was taken with my back up camera in mid display to show the size of the crowd who had gathered for a free view of the iconic Red Arrows. What will happen to such a spectacle when they are being flown in from a foreign land? Every hue of Indy voter was present on this hill today and all were united in their admiration of the Reds!
The Tartan Arrows will have some catching up to do from March 2016.
