A sphygmomanometer problem

Having found this among the results of 60 years of family occupation of this house, I now have the problem - how to dispose of it.

Being a genuine old style one there is mercury in there. I haven't dared to test it as the rubber is probably so perished that it could disintegrate under any pressure, spilling the mercury.
