Caught in the middle
Today I ventured out to Budaiya (other end of the island, near the causeway to Saudi) for a change of scenery. On the way back to Juffair I got caught in the traffic on Budaiya highway. One side of the road was completely blocked with men in their thobe taking the lead while women in abayas with their children taking the back as they walk along budaiya highway while all the onlookers standing along the traffic island and along the sides of the roads. looking in to see what was going on. Traffic was not moving at all and some people were driving over the traffic island to cross to the other side of the road to change their direction.
The gathering of people looked peaceful enough as there were so many men and their cameras on the pole lined along the traffic island looking into the crowd walking.
Drove near to the Country Mall roundabout my car and the rest of the traffic stood still unable to move. Stuck my head out to see what was going on, there were so many women and children trying to cross over (three way lane traffic) to the other side of the traffic island to join up with the March. Children were holding up their signs...
Usually I try not to drive along Budaiya highway, but for some reason today I thought I would stop at the craft shop for few items.
Took a few photos but decided not to post photos of this incident. Instead a peaceful mosque overlooking the seaside to calm our thoughts.
