Supreme challenge
I set myself a photographic challenge today in trying to take an interesting shot of the new NZ Supreme Court building. The design of the building is modern and deeply controversial with a popular view that the exterior looks as if the builders forgot to remove the scaffolding (he he): on first sight (link to an image on the Business Scoop site) that's an understandable point of view!
The metal framework on the outside of the upper floor is supposed to reflect the shapes of the iconic native NZ pohutukawa and rata trees (hmmmmmm). Anyway, the main lesson for me was that it is possible to take attractive shots of challenging subject matter: especially if I look for interesting angles, reflections and details.
However, I blew most of the shots because it was such a stunningly bright day that most ended up overexposed...damn!
Note to self: don't blow the highlights...don't blow the highlights...don't blow the highlights...well not unless you intend to blow 'em.
