Holiday Club

Hard to choose a pic from the church holiday club, and I hope poor Alan doesn't mind me posting this one, but it really made me laugh. We are having a great time running 'Fit for a King', but you never know what kids are going to do! Everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves.

Sadly once I got home I heard that wee Callum wasn't doing too well, and headed down to Crosshouse. Callum really needs to learn which is right and which is left, as moving out of HDU, instead of turning left for Special Care, he turned right, and is now back in ICU. Getting some aspirate in his lungs has precipitated what was probably going to happen anyway as his lungs haven't been developing much, and with all the growing he's been doing (he's now just over 4lb, though a few ounces are probably fluid in places it shouldn't be, that he could be doing with getting rid of) they are getting a bit squashed. So he's back in ICU on a ventilator while they give him a course of antibiotics to make sure he's clear of infection before starting steroids to strengthen the lungs. It is horrible to see him with all the tubes and wires, but you really see how impressive the technology is, for example he has a temperature probe on his skin which is attached to the incubator, so if he's cold it heats up. He does look like a wee giant in ICU though, as the other residents are even smaller than he was when he was born!
