Having a paddle

Having done a fairly tiring stint at the allotment yesterday, we didn't feel the need to go there (there would certainly have been no need for watering!) so went up to the Dean Gardens (looking greener than ever) and thence home via the market in Stockbridge and along the Water of Leith. Actually we picked up the bus in Canonmills when we were caught in yet another heavy rain shower. They don't seem to last very long, but boy, you know you've been rained on.

This crow was paddling about in the river just below the Stockbridge. There were two large youngsters sitting on the fence by Pizza Xpress waiting hopefully. I don't know what s/he was hoping to catch - D has seen one further down the river turning over stones and picking up any little wrigglers beneath, but this one didn't seem to have quite figured that out yet. It's only a matter of time, though....
