Today’s the day ....................... for a Youth Hostel
Found this place quite by chance on our way home today – a good place to sit on the grass and eat our packed lunch. It is in Shropshire close to Wenlock Edge and it’s an Elizabethan manor house, built in 1585 of local limestone by one Francis Smallman.
It was bought in 1936 by the W A Cadbury Trust who repaired the house and barn and made the road approach. It was donated the following year to the National Trust on condition that it was used as a Youth Hostel. And that’s what it’s been ever since ....................
